COLUMBIA -- S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster announced Monday a 20-year-old Lancaster man has been arrested and charged with soliciting sex online from what he believed to be an underage girl.
Benjamin Threatt, 20, was arrested November 19 and faces felony criminal solicitation of a minor charges. Police say Threatt thought he was soliciting sex from a minor girl, but he was actually chatting with an undercover officer with the Mauldin Police Department.
A spokesman for the Attorney General said policy is not to release what age victim Threatt thought he was chatting with, but that officers typically pose as pre-teen to early teenage girls.
According to the Attorney General's office, officers seized three computers and a hard drive from Threatt's home.
Threatt remained in the Greenville County Detention Center Monday on a $30,000 bond.
