(AP) -- A South Carolina police officer has been suspended after he was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

Multiple media outlets reported that North Augusta Public Safety officer Brandon L. Cameron was arrested Wednesday and was taken to the Aiken County jail.

Cameron is accused of grabbing his girlfriend from a parked vehicle during an argument and throwing her down, causing her to hit her head on the ground.

Police Lt. Tim Pearson says Cameron was suspended. He had worked for the department for three years.

It was unclear if Cameron had an attorney.
