Diaper Drive helps low-income families

Businesses in the Greater Columbia area including Lexington, Irmo and Blythewood have teamed up to help BlueChoice HealthPlan of South Carolinas Medicaid division reach its goal of collecting 250,000 disposable diapers for low-income families across South Carolina.

On Wednesday, Nov. 18, residents are asked to drop off packages of disposable diapers at participating businesses as part of BlueChoice Medicaids Diaper Change campaign: One day, Thousands of Healthy Changes. Baby wipes and cash donations for the purchase of diapers also will be accepted.

Residents may drop off donations at any of the 14 Lizards Thicket restaurants in Richland and Lexington counties from 7 a.m. until 6 p m.

Other businesses accepting donations include the Kroger grocery store at Two Notch and Sparkleberry roads, from 2 p.m. until 8p.m.; Palmetto Health Childrens Hospital at 7 Richland Medical Park, 8:30-5 p.m.; and the Gotham Bagel Café, located at 1508 Main St., 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
