LEXINGTON COUNTY -- Lexington County deputies arrested and charged a Gaston man with manufacturing methamphetamine Thursday.

According to Lexington County Sheriff James Metts, officers arrested Timothy Dale Sightler, Jr., 19, Thursday afternoon on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and unlawfully disposing of waste from a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory.

According Metts, officers received a call about a suspicious person in the area and when they arrived officers smelled a chemical odor emanating from the home. Deputies found propane fuel and other items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Sightler was being held Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
