COLUMBIA -- Richland County deputies say three men are in custody after an armed robbery outside the IGA grocery store at 135 Blythewood Road at about 11:30 a.m.
According to a department spokesperson, two gunmen approached the store manager in the parking lot outside the store. The manager was holding deposits to take to a nearby bank. The manager dropped the bag and the suspects took the cash.
A witness observed the incident and attempted to chase the suspects as they fled the scene. Those suspects fired at least one shot at the witness and struck the vehicle. The witness was unharmed, said investigators.
Deputies used K-9 and helicopter assets to track down the suspects prior to taking them into custody.
Richland County deputies have not yet released the identities of the suspects. WACH Fox News has a crew on the scene and will bring you more information as it becomes available.
