State lawmakers won't consider a move to impeach Governor Mark Sanford anytime soon.

At a special session Tuesday afternoon, Representative Greg Delleney introduced a measure to force the embattled governor out of office.

He says, ""Sanford is guilty of misconduct in office for leaving the state without establishing a chain of command."

House Speaker Bobby Harrell rejected the measure, saying lawmakers are operating under a rule that allows them to consider a limited number of items in the special session this week.

One of those items, problems with unemployment benefits.

Leaders summoned lawmakers back to Columbia after benefits ran out for nearly 7,000 unemployed South Carolinians this month.

Lawmakers gave key approval to a measure to keep those benefits flowing.
