Danielle Hodsdon was riding horses before she was in the first grade.

"That's the one good thing about show riding, event riding, race riding.. .men and women are pretty equal," said Hodsdon.

Riding a horse isn't all fun and games, Hodsdon's day starts around 6:30, taking care of each horse and Hodsdon says that sets her apart from other jockeys.

"I do a lot more on the training aspect than some of the other jockeys do.  I work with the horses I ride everyday," said Hodsdon.

Also riding this weekend is Richard Boucher.

He's been racing for more than 25 years.

"It's a very fair course.  It's pretty flat and you have to have a horse that's pretty fit and ready to run the race," Boucher.

Hodsdon and Boucher aren't competing in the "big" race, but will ride in smaller races during the day.

The actual Carolina Cup race offers $75,000 in prize money.

Tickets are $40 at the gate.
