COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A lawmaker is calling for an investigation of the South Carolina Highway Patrol after two videos show state troopers using their patrol cars to hit suspects fleeing on foot.

The videos were obtained by The Post and Courier of Charleston. Their release comes about three weeks after the head of the Highway Patrol and his boss resigned over their handling of a trooper who used racial epithet during a traffic stop.

Highway Patrol Colonel Russell Roark and Public Safety Director James Schweitzer submitted their resignations after black lawmakers showed Governor Mark Sanford a 2004 videotape of a white trooper threatening a black man and using a racial slur.
