COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Election Commission has rejected protests over Democratic State Rep. Ted Vick's re-election in Chesterfield County and Democratic Sen. Clementa Pinckney's re-election in the Lowcountry.

South Carolina State Election Commission spokesman Chris Whitmire says commissioners voted 5-0 to deny a protest on Vick from Republican challenger Richie Yow.

Yow contended some 2,000 votes were improperly cast by voters who did not live in Vick's House district.

Vick won by 448 votes.

Earlier in the day, the panel decided that Lowcountry state Sen. Clementa Pinckney's re-election should stand.

Commissioners unanimously rejected the protest by Pickney's Republican challenger, who claimed that Pinckney doesn't live in the district he represents. Leilani Bessinger said she hasn't decided whether to appeal.
