"State is great and go bulldogs!"
Amber Vincent is proud to go to S.C. State and says it's best to leave the school's problems in the past.
Her attitude matches the schools motto, "A new state of mind."
"We have great teachers, great leaders, it's really not that bad," says Vincent.
"The student life is great," says Cedric Shamley.
Cedric Shamley is a senior at S.C. State and is happy the the education he's received.
Shamley doesn't understand why the school has a bad reputation.
"Because they haven't experienced the great experience we have here," says Shamley.
"We're beginning to see the grounds for improvement put into place," says Senator Jerry Govan.
Last year, Senator Govan, who is a S.C. State Alum, was highly critical of his alma mater after school officials fired former president Andrew Hugine.
Now, Govan is singing a different tune.
"I think you'll see within the year or two...The enrolment figures go back up, I think people are going to naturally be concerned about stability and leadership at the institution, now that that's been addressed and you're seeing new members on the board, I think you'll see a lot of positive things happen," says Govan.
A state of mind that seems to be shared by the student body.
