From a dispute over bringing a new water source to their town, to an alleged shoving match.  We've covered all of that in the tiny town of Batesburg-Leesville.  City council members there have been at odds for months.

Councilman Steve Cain has been very vocal about several issues.  Cain was even arrested last month and accused of shoving a fellow councilman.  Other city leaders have been fairly quiet.  There are new details on the political controversy.

"I'm a victim of a high tech lynching," said Councilman Steve Cain.

The Batesburg-Leesville councilman made a bold statement in early July after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting fellow councilman Todd O'Dell, after a city council meeting.

Shortly after we ran Cain's comments the town's Mayor Pro-Tem, Rita Crapps, contacted WACH Fox News.  She claimed there was more to the story and a video showing the truth about what happened at the council meeting in question.

After nearly an hour of video, the tape ended without showing any evidence of a shoving match.

We contacted both Councilmen Cain and O'Dell Monday.  Neither wanted to talk.  Other city officials either denied our request for an interview or were unreachable.  But people who live in the area like Annette Quarles, are ready to voice their opinion.

"Be respectful, talk, try not to have violence," said Quarles.

Residents like Quarles say enough is enough. For her the political bickering is getting in the way of really matters.

"Get jobs down here. And just get together and stop the fussing and fighting. Work together," said Quarles.

An effort to bring an end to conflicts that have rattled the otherwise quiet community.
