A Fairfield County jury has convicted a Fairfield County inmate in a 1993 murder case.

Thursday, jurors found Curtis Lee Elgin guilty of murdering 35 year-old Audre Belton 16 years ago.

Belton was found shot to death in her Winnsboro home on Golf Course Road on February 15, 1993.

Elgin was charged with Belton’s murder in 2005 while serving a five year prison sentence prison for burglary and aggravated.

He has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for Belton’s murder.
