The international affair by the state's leading man has made its way back to the streets of Columbia. Now several Carolinian's are voicing their concerns.

"This state has suffered enough embarrassment at his hands and he has the audacity to be living in a glass house," said Columbia native David Cleveland.

A house that's been shattered after the governor admitted to cheating on his family for the past year.  His latest rendezvous was over the Father's Day weekend when he left his wife and four children for his mistress.  Cleveland says the governor is not leading by example.

"He has to be living on a high moralistic point of view," said Cleveland.  "And he has failed very much so."

"My first reaction was wasn't that interesting?" said Columbia local Bob Rosen.  "Because I would not have suspected that for his image."

Rosen believes there's only one say Sanford can salvage what's left of his tarnished reputation.

"I think he ought to resign," said Rosen.  "Just say, 'look I've done something dumb or stupid' or however he wants to characterize it."

Nikenya Williams is surprised, but says she can forgive Sanford.

"Its shocking to me but everybody deserves a second chance," said Williams.

Others agree. Especially those who have been married.

"I think his political career might be over but its kind of hard to say. I mean this state is a forgiving state," said another Columbia local.

But how forgiving remains unknown.

"I think its a big mess. I mean I feel sorry for his family. But overall I just hope he can overcome it and I hope it works out for him."

Only time will tell.

Jake Knotts

I am really tired of hear Jake Knotts go on about the governor. I think someone needs to look into his background. I am sure that the people he represents would like to know about his past dealings with other counties and involvement with companys that were caught doing illegal activity. As well as comments he made about people of other races.

Governor Sandord

Posted by Karen Carter, Columbia, SC - Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10:21 p.m.

I do believe that Governor Sandord made a huge mistake and has put not only his family life in jeopardy as well as our great State of SC, but the whole Republican party. BUT do the people of this State as well as the whole US and Democratic party not remember BILL CLINTON. Look what he put us all through and we not only overlooked it, but this country actually re-elected him. I think his wife and sons should be the only ones that should be allowed to judge him. He made a grave immoral judgement, we can only hope he learns from this mistake.
