Bringing the faith back into prisons. That's what Christian group "Champions for Life" is doing this weekend.
Paul Wrenn's got more championships under his belt than I've been alive.
The 60 year old is part of a Christian ministry that speaks to prison inmates.
"A lof ot these guys don't have a lot to laugh about. It's really a bleak place to live," said Wrenn.
Wrenn's stop in South Carolina brings him to the Broad River Correctional Institution, a level 3 maximum security prison.
The all male facility was given the chance to hear from motivational speakers like Wrenn.
"The Lord can give them the chance in their life that they need for a new life," said Wrenn.
Department of Corrections communications director Josh Gelinas agrees the lessons can be uplifting.
"They believe that they can reach out to these people and change their behavior," said Gelinas.
Wrenn's speech in front of nearly 100 men was as much motivational as it was comical, but Wrenn says the message is simple.
"Jesus Christ loves them no matter who they are," said Wrenn.
Paul Wrenn has been with Champions for Life for 33 years.
The event wraps up Saturday.
