The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office arrested a former church employee, who they say used church credit cards over two years to buy items totaling more than $75,000.

Forty-one-year-old Michelle S. Mitchum of Blackville is charged with grand larceny.

Mitchum surrendered Monday to Aiken County investigators.

Mitchum worked at Grace Covenant Church of God in New Ellenton as a secretary.

Authorities say that from January 2006 until September 2008, Mitchum opened two credit card accounts in the church’s name. These accounts were used to pay household bills, buy clothing, jewelry and vacations.
