Fairfield County deputies have taken 16 patients into protective custody at Peachtree Manor Residential, a senior care facility in Winnsboro.

According to Deputy Chief Keith Lewis, a DHEC inspection of Peachtree Manor Friday afternoon revealed that many of the manor's residents had not received their prescribed medications for some time. Deputies arrived soon after and determined that the residents were in danger.

Currently, 16 patients have been taken into protective custody and are being transported to the emergency room where a doctor will determine whether or not they are healthy enough to be placed into another facility by DSS.
