Blythewood, SC (WACH)--Seniors at Blythewood got a blast from the past on Wednesday, thanks to elementary students.

Bethel-Hanberry Elementary Students gave the Blythewood Historical Society gave several copies of old school newspapers; capturing students and faculties of the old Blythewood School from 1938 to 1970.

The newspaper was created and written by students. It gives current elementary students a glimpse at what life was like when their grandparents attended school. Some of the elders that were part of the newspaper attended the event.

Historical Society President Frankie Mclean said it is a special day.

"These articles were written by the students and expressed the students feelings," Mclean said. "Even if you don't know the people in the articles, it capsulate history. There are hundreds of people in these books; and grandchildren can also come up and read about their grandparents.

The artifacts will be added to the Historical Society's non-lending resource library at the Langford-Nord House.
