COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- High school science and engineering students from throughout central South Carolina are set to hit the University of South Carolina to show their expertise.

The university is hosting the 57th annual science fair on Friday for area students who present their findings to judges.

Students' oral and visual presentations are judged on a variety of things, such as creative ability, scientific thought, thoroughness and clarity.

Fair participants are coming from Newberry, Lexington, Orangeburg, Calhoun, Clarendon, Richland, Sumter, Kershaw and Fairfield counties.
