47th annual Chitlin' Strut a tradition in Salley

SALLEY, S.C. (AP) -- Right on time after Thanksgiving Day's turkey, comes the Chitlin Strut in the Aiken County town of Salley.

The Aiken Standard reported The 47th annual Chitlin' Strut is set to kick off with a variety of entertainment Saturday.

Chitlins or chitterlings are the boiled and fried intestines of a hog and thousands of people are expected to line up for the dish at $10 a plate.

Mayor Bob Salley says more than 20 food vendors and 40 arts and craft vendors are expected.

There's also a pancake breakfast before the Chitlin' Strut Parade at 10 a.m.

Santa Claus will also be on hand for photos.

There's also a hog calling contest, car and bike show.

About 30,000 people are expected to attend.
