FORT JACKSON (WACH) -- Sergeant First Class Tyrell Tierney has been in the army for eleven years.
Tierney along with First Lieutenant Devin Niu helped Good Day Columbia's Fraendy Clervaud experience physical training, or "PT" as folks in the military call it, first hand.
The three men started the session by stretching then moved on to the dreaded push-ups and sit-ups followed by upper body endurance.
“Being a solider, you are going to be faced with a lot of situations and you will be on your feet a lot and building that stamina and endurance will help you become more resilient to the day to day tasks you'll face as a soldier,” said 1st Lieutenant Niu.
The Midlands community will have the opportunity to learn more about the United States Army through Spirit of America, which will be live at the Colonial Life Arena Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22. Admission is free, but tickets are required.
The show will feature more than 300 active duty soldiers bringing the "history of the nation" to life through historical reenactments, musical entertainment and precision military drill, according to the U.S. Army's Spirit of America website.
