COLUMBIA (WACH)-Hundreds of Midlands students, parents, and teachers got a look at how education is being revolutionized.

It-oLogy in downtown Columbia hosted the iSchool Initiative Digital Learning Revolution Tour to Columbia Wednesday morning. Organizers showed attendees about mobile learning on Ipads and IPod touch devices in the classroom.

The iSchool showed students a motivational workshop designed to enhance student engagement and customize their education. The results from other participating schools show a drastic improvement with mobile education.

It-oLogy Executive director Lonnie Emard said it makes learning easier and more fun.

"When the periodic table is studied in a traditional method, in a textbook, the scores are not very good. But when all of the sudden, that is delivered in a digital environment, to music, animation, video; away from four walls in the classroom; the actual percentage points was almost a 14% increase."

According to It-lLogy, Richland and Lexington Counties lead the nation in Ipad and IPod Touch's in their classrooms per capita. Studies show under the program, less students became bore in class several times a week. They also spent more hours reading and studying away from class.
