The death of a Columbia man in a wheelchair who was hit by a truck in a Five Points intersection has Columbia officials taking a closer look at traffic safety. Another city of Columbia employee who oversaw multiple federal loan programs has quit his job, WACH Fox News has learned. Larry Kea, a former Wachovia Bank auditor, joins former supervisor Scott Blackmon who resigned this week and now claims city officials ordered him not to say anything after he discovered multiple improprieties in the city's loan records.

At a work session Tuesday, City manager Steve Gantt gave the council two options for next fiscal year's water and sewer budget; they can either opt to raise rates or issue bonds to pay for improvement projects. City leaders reluctantly agreed to advertise a 2011-2012 budget that includes the hike for the city's water and sewer operating budget and capital improvement program.
