The Georgia Ports Authority has joined a South Carolina state agency in agreeing to a settlement that would end pending lawsuits over the proposed $652 million deepening of the waterway to the Port of Savannah.

Governor Nikki Haley is traveling to the coast to speak at a meeting of South Carolina's maritime industry leaders. Last week, Haley was credited by Georgia officials with helping work out a compromise that removed South Carolina objections to the deepening of Savannah River.
