In a radio interview Thursday, Haley said "God bless that little girl at The Post and Courier," referring to a reporter at the Charleston newspaper who wrote about the trip. On Friday, the governor released a statement calling the comment inappropriate.

The bills from Gov. Nikki Haley's weeklong trip to Europe in June total more than $127,000 and are still coming in. But the governor returned home with two agreements with foreign employers that are in the works, not done deals as Haley has said. Critics fire back at the trip calling it a waste of taxpayer money.

Columbia City Council voted Tuesday night to spend $6,000 to send Mayor Steve Benjamin to the Paris Air Show. Mayor Benjamin was invited to join Governor Nikki Haley and Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt on the trip from June 18-23.
