Officials say an elderly woman is dead after her grandson tried to beat a train across the tracks in Orangeburg. The grandson drove the around a stopped car at a crossing at the corner of Highway 601 and Sellers Avenue after 11 a.m. Friday according to Orangeburg Public Safety officials.
