A South Carolina lawmaker wants to increase the number of veterans who'd be eligible for disabled parking privileges. The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that Rep. Wendell Gilliard says he'll propose legislation ahead of the January session to allow veterans with less severe disabilities to obtain the special license plates.

A new crime fighting tool in the hands of the Orangeburg County Sheriffs Office is all thanks to a fishing tournament. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says the $10,000 license plate reader was a prize the department won at the Palmetto Blue Fishing Tournament in Charleston.
