The Union flag is being lowered at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor as the commemoration of the start of the nation's bloodiest conflict winds down. Re-enactors raise the Confederate Stars and Bars and Union re-enactors leave the Fort in Charleston Harbor Thursday, where they have camped since last weekend.

Some 300 re-enactors are camped out at Patriots Point in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Sunday morning began with a period church service, followed by artillery drills and cannon firing.

A spokesman for the National Park Service says if there is a partial government shutdown, Fort Sumter in Charleston will close at midnight Friday. And that will mean the touchstone of Tuesday's 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War will be closed next week.
