Wednesday marked the 44th anniversary of the incident known as the Orangeburg Massacre. Friends and family of those lost and injured returned to South Carolina State University Wednesday to honor them.

On February 8, 1968, police opened fire on South Carolina State College (now South Carolina State University) students protesting segregation at what was, then, the All-Star Bowling Lane in Orangeburg. On Thursday, February 4, 2010, South Carolina State University debuts a new stage production based on the events of that horrible night 42-years ago.
