Saturday, January 21, 2012  Gamecocks Football Coach Steve Spurrier announced today freshman safety Brison Williams has been suspended indefinitely from the football team.

Wednesday, October 12, 2011  It seems USC senior quarterback Stephen Garcia is off the team for good.  Officials with the University of South Carolina Athletics Department say Garcia was dismissed from the Gamecock football team Tuesday.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011  Spurrier says an article written by State sports columnist Ron Morris falsely accuses him of trying to recruit Bruce Ellington away from Gamecock basketball coach Darrin Horn.  The highly touted Ellington was a stand-out in both basketball and football and chose football.

Tuesday, September 20, 2011  University of South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier is scheduled to appear before an NCAA infractions committee next February. The university acknowledged it received a notice of allegations from the NCAA Monday.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011  No. 10 South Carolina has put up the most points in its first two games in coach Steve Spurrier's seven seasons.  The Gamecocks' coach says he still needs to see much more if the team expects to maintain its successful start.

Tuesday, August 30, 2011  The South Carolina football season kicks off in just 4 days against East Carolina and Head Coach Steve Spurrier says the team is healthy and ready to hit the field.  Spurrier held his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon and told reporters that no starting quarterback has been named at this point.

Tuesday, August 02, 2011  Stephen Garcia and G.A. Mangus have been fully reinstated to the Gamecock football team for the 2011 season. Both will return to the field for USC's opening practice on Wednesday.

Friday, July 29, 2011  Fall practice begins August 3 at 7:30 p.m. on the Bluff Road practice fields.  USC officials say they've seen a big interest from the public wanting to check out the squad this year.
