A Richland County Family Court judge has decided that a 15-year-old suspect in the June beating of another teen in Columbia will not be tried as an adult. Eight teens were charged in the attack of Carter Strange as he jogged through Columbia's Five Points neighborhood around midnight in June of last year.

Two of the juveniles accused in the June beating of 18-year-old Carter Strange in Columbia's Five Points pleaded guilty for their roles in the crime Thursday. The 16 and 17-year-old boys pled guilty to misprison of a felony. Investigators say the two boys, along with the additional two who pled guilty earlier this week, did not participate in the actual physical assault. Instead, they waited at their cars until the beating was over.
