Friday, February 10, 2012  A Columbia mother is speaking out after a judge ruled that a 15-year-old accused in the beating of her teenage son will not be tried as an adult. Vicky Strange calls the decision a miscarriage of justice. The teen in question is charged in the June beating of her son Carter.

Thursday, February 09, 2012  A Richland County Family Court judge has decided that a 15-year-old suspect in the June beating of another teen in Columbia will not be tried as an adult.  Eight teens were charged in the attack of Carter Strange as he jogged through Columbia's Five Points neighborhood around midnight in June of last year.

Thursday, December 08, 2011  Four teens who pleaded guilty earlier this year in the beating of another teen in Columbia have been placed on probation. The teens were also ordered to avoid using social media.

Thursday, September 22, 2011  Two of the juveniles accused in the June beating of 18-year-old Carter Strange in Columbia's Five Points pleaded guilty for their roles in the crime Thursday.  The 16 and 17-year-old boys pled guilty to misprison of a felony.  Investigators say the two boys, along with the additional two who pled guilty earlier this week, did not participate in the actual physical assault.  Instead, they waited at their cars until the beating was over.

Tuesday, September 20, 2011  Three of the five juveniles accused in the June Five Points beating of 18-year-old Carter Strange will remain in jail until their trials.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011  City council approved making the temporary curfew for Five Points permanent.

Thursday, August 18, 2011  City of Columbia police are investigating another bloody beating in the Five Points area. At least one witness said the suspects washed the victim’s blood off in the Five Points fountain.
