2007-07-23
false
Richland County authorities announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with a three-year-old cold case homicide.
14-year-old Marcus Gripper was shot and killed in the Hollywood Hills Community on April 11, 2004, around 1:30 a.m.
Gripper was approached by several people. A verbal altercation followed, resulting in the victim being shot multiple times.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Gripper was senselessly shot and killed due to an ongoing gang rivalry.
Investigators from the Cold Case Unit were able to interview 17-year-old Stacardo Grissett in June 2007, when Grissett implicated himself and several others in the 2004 murder.
Lott added that the Cold Case Unit subsequently interviewed a 15-year-old and 22-year-old Marvin Garrett; both were also implicated.
Investigators were able to charge all three with murder after these interviews.
Investigators are in the process of seeking warrants on two additional suspects. Both are currently incarcerated on unrelated charges.
