COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A Midlands woman that has been a leader for kids with autism, is seeing her hard work pay off.

Lori Unumb won the Beaty Jane France Humanitarian Award from NASCAR.

Tuesday morning, Unumb was presented with 100,000 dollars for the Autism Academy of South Carolina.

The NASCAR foundation and driver Kenny Wallace presented Unumb with a check and a new car.

Toyota delear Jim Hudson also donated an additonal 5,000 dollars for the foundation.

"We're still a small non profit organization and to have this kind of donation from the NASCAR foundation, to have this kind of publicity really just elevates our platform and make an enormous difference,"said Unumb.

Unumb recently worked to help pass a law requring health insurance coverage for children with autism know as Ryan's Law.
