Police make arrest in Five Points assault

COLUMBIA (WACH) - Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott says an arrest has been made in connection with an assault that occurred in Five Points last month.

Donnell Rashied Burney,  20, is charged with second degree assault by a mob.

Scott says Burney and two other suspects fought with a victim on Harden Street around 2 a.m. on February 16.

Burney is accused of hitting and kicking a man in the head and face, according to police, The victim suffered a fractured jaw and was taken to a local hospital.

Burney has been taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
