RALEIGH, N.C. (WACH) - Sophomore catcher Garrett Boulware blasted two home runs and drove in five runs leading Clemson to a 10-5 win over No. 8 N.C. State at Doak Field on Friday afternoon.

The Tigers improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the ACC. The Wolfpack fell to 11-3 overall and 0-1 in ACC play.

The Wolfpack jumped out to a 4-0 lead and had All-America lefthander Carlos Rodon on the mound, but the Tigers scratched out three runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth inning off Rodon to take the lead for good. Boulwares three-run home run in the fifth inning gave Clemson a 7-4 lead. He added another long home run in the ninth inning. They were the first two home runs of his career.

Tiger starter Daniel Gossett pitched 6.2 innings to earn his second win of the season, striking out nine batters and giving up five hits.

Clemson and N.C. State will play game-two of the three-game series on Saturday at 4:00pm.
