HANAHAN, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a 23-year-old Hanahan man threw his 5-month-old son to the ground because he wouldn't stop crying, then waited two days before getting the boy medical help.

Investigators said Derek Stilson has been charged with infliction of great bodily injury upon a child.

Police say Stilson's son suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain after he hit the floor on Feb. 19. The boy was brought to the hospital two days later when his mother said he suffered stroke-like symptoms.

Stilson is being held at the Berkeley County jail on a $250,000 bond. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
