LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) -- The University of South Carolina Lancaster is set to celebrate a groundbreaking for a new 40,000-square foot Founders Hall.

University spokeswoman Peggy Binette says Wednesday's ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. on the regional university campus.

The $7.5 million project includes classrooms, multimedia lecture rooms, an art studio, faculty offices and an outdoor amphitheater.

The building is slated for opening in January 2014.

Lancaster is one of the University of South Carolina's regional campuses offering primarily two-year associate degrees. The campus in north-central South Carolina has about 1,800 students enrolled.
