WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WACH)- A Columbia man is dead after trying to disassemble his pistol at a West Columbia shooting range.
Lexington County Coroner Harry Harmon says Jerry Marsh III, 62, of Columbia, was dismantling his 40-caliber Glock pistol when the gun discharged. The bullet struck him in the chest. Marsh was taken to Palmetto Health Richland, where he was pronounced dead.
Harmon says the accident remains under investigation by the Coroner's Office and the West Columbia Police Department.
