Second arrest made in Five Points brawl

Columbia (WACH)--The Columbia Police Department has arrested a second man accused of being involved in a fight last weekend in Five Points.

John Sumner, 21, was arrested Friday afternoon, Benedict College Police found Sumner at his apartment.

He is charged with Second Degree Assault and Battery.

Another suspect, Stanley McBride, was arrested earlier this week. He is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Battery.

Investigators are still looking for Michael Jermel Kendrix, 21, from Austell, Georgia. Police say Kendrix with also be charged with assault in connection with the recent Five Points fight.

All three suspects are students at Benedict College.

Authorities believe the three men were involved in a brawl early Sunday morning. The suspects are accused of kicking the victim, Josh Bosworth, and repeatedly punching him in the head. Bosworth suffered a broken jaw and a gash on his head.
