COLUMBIA (WACH) - Exercise will become more interactive in the Midlands with the help of a new technology-forward track.

The City of Columbia and EnduringFX are partnering to launch the EFX500 at the Drew Wellness Center.

EduringFX is a Columbia-based company that aims to improve community fitness by transforming ordinary exercise into high-tech, interactive experiences. EFX500 is a community challenge to collectively walk or run 500 miles in support of building a healthier Columbia.

City officials say community members are invited to walk on the indoor track at the Drew Wellness Center for free from June 6 through June 24. Participants will be eligible to win prizes, and at the end of the challenge, there will be a party to recognize everyone who took part.

The challenge will provide data to participants and community support for EduringFX. Results will be published in a report that could help EduringFX win the 2012 Sanofi Data Design Diabetes Innovation Challenge. The company is one of two national finalists and a winner will be selected July 16.
