COLUMBIA (WACH) -- In an effort to keep the Midlands’ sputtering bus system rolling, some big changes are in store for Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority riders.
Starting Monday, the CMRTA is combining some routes, cancelling others and cutting hours.
CMRTA officials announced the changes in April in an attempt to erase a $3.6 million deficit.
The changes include four route cuts and no more Sunday service.
While CMRTA officials say these changes are necessary, riders can’t help but be concerned.

“There are people who have jobs and need to get to work,” said rider Katrina Elmore on Sunday. “Now they’re going to put people in a bind.”
