IRMO, SC (WACH) - A free community shred day and e-waste recycling event is being held in Irmo Thursday.

This one-day event hosted by Shred360 is being held at 431 Western Lane in Irmo Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and is open the public

Shred360, a locally owned and operated Information Management Company, has partnered with local recyclers to reduce electronic waste in South Carolina landfills.

Shred360 has had a long tradition of providing “Free Shred Days” to the consumers of South Carolina. They have added e-Waste recycling to their list of information management services.

Officials with Shred360 say their goal is to bring awareness to the need for information protection and responsible disposal of electronic waste.

Arrangements can be made to have your materials picked up, if a person is handicapped or medically restricted.

Items allowed to be destroyed are office quality paper products. No hazardous materials, metals, or plastics. Items allowed for free e-Waste recycling are computers, printers, laptops, speakers, radios, keyboards and LCD flat panel monitors. Glass CRT monitors and TVs are subject to a $10 recycling fee per unit. No household appliances, batteries, or tires.

Consumers are requested to limit their materials to 5 boxes or bags so that all consumers can be served in a timely fashion. There is a $10 recycling fee per Glass CRT computer monitor or TV.
