COLUMBIA (WACH) -- An Aiken man's wife and child have been located safe in Georgia. Owen Pirkle reported his 48-year-old wife, Angela Marie Pirkle, and 2-year-old son, Brody William Pirkle, missing Monday.

According to the Aiken County Sheriff's Department, Pirkle and her son were found at a Georgia hotel by local police. Investigators spoke with Mrs. Pirkle and say she and the child were both okay and allowed them to remain on their trip home to the state of Washington.

Mr. Pirkle told investigators with Aiken Public Safety that his wife was supposed to take their son to the baby sitter, but they never arrived at the baby sitter's home. He tried to call his wife around 11:25 a.m. Monday, but her phone was turned off.

According to the incident report, Pirkle claims his wife has had mental problems in the past, although she has never tried to harm herself.
