Richardson died December 21, 2011 after being shot in the head during a traffic stop. Police plan to charge 19 year-old Stephon Carter, who is currently in the hospital, with Richardson's death.

Richardson was laid to rest December 27 at the University of South Carolina Aiken Convocation Center, he left behind a wife and three children.
