IRMO (WACH) -- City of Columbia water officials are warning residents in the Riverwalk Subdivision to boil water before consumption.

The water works department says a 10 inch water main broke Monday and could have introduced bacteria into the water supply.

Crews continue to work to fix the problem for customers on Penshore Ct, Silkworth Pl, Kirton Ct, and Riverwalk Way from Kirton Ct to Lykes Ln,

Officials say residents should boil their water for at least one full minute until further notice.
