COLUMBIA (WACH) -- You are never too old to exercise.

Just ask 103-year-old Nell Eleazer of Columbia.

“I wanted to be active,” Eleazer says.

Inside the Capital Senior Center on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, you will find a dozen women working out with six others more than half their age in a program called “Stay in Balance.”

The class is led by exercise science majors at USC.

“The students are great in being able to provide explanations of why we are doing certain activities,” according to program instructor Anna Gelbrich.

“Stay in Balance” focuses on improving motor skills.

Even though Eleazer may not able to master all the moves, she still inspires her classmates.

“She is doing so well and it is good to see her here,” says 85-year-old Gloria Humphries.

Eleazer attends "Stay in Balance" with her niece, who is also motivated by her positive attitude.

“She wants to be as independent as she can be for as long as she can be,” says Eleazer’s niece Diane Norris.

As for Eleazer who was born more than a century ago, she says she has no plans of slowing down.

Her niece adds the class boosts Eleazer’s confidence to move.
