Parents in Richland School District Two no longer have to wait for interim reports or regular nine-week report cards to monitor grades and attendance records.
The new Parent Portal, a web-based system custom-developed by Richland Two and VC3, Inc., of Columbia, gives parents immediate access to attendance records, test scores, homework assignments, class projects and other graded activities.
This is the first phase of the portal which will continuously be expanded to become a one-stop shopping destination parents can visit for all student information. In effect, parents will have their own exclusive access to Richland Two's data warehouse for information pertinent to their children, says Tom Cranmer, director of information technology. Prepaying lunch and regular student fees will also be an option for parents.
Parents, who currently have their e-mail address on file with the district, can sign-up by clicking on the Parent Portal link on the districts Web site (see below). Parents whose e-mail address is not currently on file must register via their child's school.
