In Lexington hundreds of locals came out to support the legacy of a very special little girl. 7-year-old Malori Crapps died in April, in an ATV accident.
Her parents decided to donate her organs; it's what they call a gift that keeps on giving. A memorial was held in honor of Malori, letting everyone know that donating does make a difference.
The community rallied together for one of their own.
"There's no better feeling then this. I'm glad we had the turn out that we had," said her parents Kristel Oswald and Shannon Crapps.
It was a turnout to celebrate the life of Malori Crapps. She died in April. After her death, her heart, liver and kidneys were donated.
"Malori had a heart of gold, it was as big as the world," said her mother.
It's because of that golden heart that people Malori didn't even know are alive today.
"We're just raising awareness about organ donating because Malori saved 4 lives with her organs," said her parents.
The memorial also offered locals a chance to roll up their sleeves to give the gift of blood, and to register to become organ donors.
Malori's parents say she's gone way too soon, but her spirit continues to live on.
"Malori would love this right now, knowing this has all been done in her name," said her parents.
The money raised at the event will go towards a scholarship.
