Sheriff's deputies say a 39-year-old Greenville County woman has died while being taken for a mental evaluation.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies say a 39-year-old Greenville County woman has died while being taken for a mental evaluation.
Deputies say they served mental evaluation papers on a woman in her apartment Thursday afternoon and called for an ambulance because she had a physical condition that prevented her from sitting in a patrol car.
Deputies say the woman had agreed to go for the check, but became combative in the ambulance and began having problems breathing.
She was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Her name has not been released.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
