Columbia city council voted 6-1 Tuesday night to approve the sale of the Capital City Stadium property to a Walmart developer. The study, conducted by AMEC Environment and Infrastructure, concludes that a proposed development could be implemented "without significant impacts" to the Rocky Branch Watershed.

If you live in the Columbia area it's very likely you have driven past or over the Rocky Branch Creek. A newly-formed group called the Rocky Branch Watershed Alliance is appealing to city leaders to keep an eye on the area as a decision on the sale of the Capital City Stadium property looms.

Utility crews in Columbia's Shandon neighborhood are set to resume tree trimming following community outcry. SCE&G officials say contractors will be trimming limbs near utility lines. City officials, including certified arborists, will be monitoring the crew's work on a daily basis.
