Officials say they arrested a robbery suspect Wednesday night who took money from the cash register at a Columbia gas station. Columbia police say 51-year-old John Portlock was caught after an officer on patrol approached him because he matched the description of the man who robbed the Exxon gas station on Gervais Street.

The city of Columbia is announcing a scheduled interruption to water service for customers in one neighborhood. The outage will take place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. this Thursday on the 1000-1100 blocks of Tree Street, 1300-1500 blocks of King Street and the 1300 block of Melrose Heights Street.
